The experts will evaluate the production of official statistics in Estonia against the quality requirements of Eurostat (the statistical office of the European Union) and against the European Statistics Code of Practice.

Industrial producer price index rose by nearly 33% year on year

In June 2022, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 2.3% compared with May and by 33.3% compared with June 2021.

According to Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2017, there were 706,000 dwellings in Estonia, of which 76% were occupied. Compared to 1922 when there were 252,000 dwellings in Estonia, the number has nearly tripled.

Absolute poverty means that a person’s income is below the absolute poverty threshold. The threshold is calculated on the basis of equivalised disposable income that takes into account the composition of the household (the weight of the first adult member is 1, the weight of each additional member aged at least 14 years is 0.7 and the weight of everyone under 14 years of age is 0.5), i.e. the total household income is divided by the sum of equivalence scales of household members. Construction volume took a downturn in the second quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2022, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 1.4% year on year at constant prices. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the construction volume fell by 1.8%.

PHC 2011: households’ living conditions have improved since the previous census

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), 70% of private households live in dwellings with all basic amenities. In the 2000 census, that share was 65%. The availability of comfort characteristics in the dwellings inhabited by households has improved significantly in the last decade.

The Estonian economy contracted by 1.3% last year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP), which shows how the Estonian economy is doing, declined by 4.1% compared with the same period of 2021. The GDP at current prices was 10 billion euros.

In October, the industrial producer price index decreased

In October 2021, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, decreased by 0.1% compared to September 2021 and increased by 19.0% compared to October 2020.
