In November, the consumer price index remained at the same level as in October
According to Statistics Estonia, in November, the consumer price index remained at the same level as in October 2023 and increased by 4.0% compared with November 2022. Goods were 2.6% and services 6.5% more expensive than in November last year.
Viktoria Trasanov, a team lead at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with November 2022, the consumer price index was influenced the most by the price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which accounted for nearly a third of the total rise. Compared with November last year, meat and meat products were 7.9%, flour, cereals and cereal products 6.0%, and fruits 9.7% more expensive. Petrol was 9.2% and diesel fuel 17.2% cheaper.
“The last time that the change of the consumer price index compared with the same month of the previous year was 4.0% or smaller was in June 2021, when it was 3.8%,” added Trasanov.
Compared with October, the consumer price index was influenced the most by the 1.2% price increase of food, on the one hand, and by the 4.8% price decrease of motor fuel, on the other hand.
