Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 3.4% compared to the second quarter of 2021 and by 17.3% compared to the third quarter of 2020.

In November, the industrial producer price index was affected the most by price increase in electricity production
In November 2021, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 1.1% compared to October 2021 and by 19.1% compared to November 2020.

E-census is open from the end of December
At the end of the year, on 28 December, the Population and Housing Census, conducted every ten years, starts in Estonia. Everyone living in Estonia is invited to complete an online questionnaire for the census by 22 January 2022. In February, census takers will call or visit the people for whom filling in the questionnaire is mandatory.

The highest numbers of job vacancies in education, trade and manufacturing
According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, there were 11,518 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This number increased by a third year on year. More than 8,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Imports reached a new record level in October
According to Statistics Estonia, in October, exports of goods increased by 18% and imports by 32% year on year. Trade growth was driven primarily by the increased exports and imports of mineral products, wood and articles of wood, and base metals and articles of base metal.
