Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2020, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 8% compared to March 2019. Production decreased in all industrial activities: manufacturing, energy production and mining.

Statistics Estonia publishes weekly statistics on deaths

Expenditure on food and dwelling account for a third of the household budget

Last year, 59,000 amateurs sang in choirs and danced in folk groups
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, there were 82,500 amateurs of folk culture in Estonia. 59,000 of them sang in choirs or danced in folk dance groups. The most folk culture amateurs per thousand inhabitants were in Võru county and the least in Ida-Viru county.

Statistics Estonia: people stay in one location 20 hours per day on average
Statistics Estonia’s mobility analysis revealed that since the emergency situation and movement restrictions were implemented, people living in Estonia stay in their main location 20 hours per day on average. The distance covered in one day as well as the number of trips has decreased. The revised analysis shows that the share of people staying in their main location has increased by 16 percentage points, which means that an estimated 200,000 more people have stayed local.

In February, exports of goods declined by 6%
According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2020, compared to February 2019, the exports of goods decreased by 6% and imports by 2%. Both exports and imports declined the most in respect of countries outside the European Union.

Manufacture of food products increased in February
According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2020, the production of industrial enterprises remained at the level of February 2019. Of the three sectors of industry, production increased in manufacturing, but decreased in energy and mining.
