Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2021, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 6.6% compared both to the fourth and the first quarter of 2020.

In May, the producer price index of industrial output increased by 8.4% year on year
In May 2021, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 1.6% compared to April 2021 and by 8.4% compared to May 2020.

Sales of herbicides were again the highest last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, 784 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia. The majority of these pesticides were herbicides, while the sales of fungicides and growth regulators were the highest of the last decade.

Exports and imports of services were at the same level in the first quarter
According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2021, the exports of services grew by 2% and imports of services by 51% year on year. Estonian economic entities exported and imported services for 1.6 billion euros. According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2021, there were 9,443 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This means a 10% increase year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.
